Hydraulic shock absorbing valve

A main characteristic of a hydraulic shock absorbing valve is the safety function within a hydraulic system. Therefore a device, which brings a moving load to a gentle rest through the use of a metered hydraulic fluid.

Features of the hydraulic shock absorbing valve

This valve is install, complete with oil. Therefore, they can installed in any position or angle. The spring return units are entirely self-contained units and extremely compact. As is always fill with oil there is no air pocket to cause spongy and erratic action.

Furthermore shock absorbers valve are multiple orifice hydraulic parts. When a load in motion strikes the mechanical device of the shock absorber, it sets the rod and piston in motion. The moving piston pushes oil through a series of holes from an inner high-pressure chamber to an outer low pressure chamber.

The resistance to the oil flow cause by the restrictions creates a pressure that acts against the piston to oppose the moving load. Holes are space geometrically which in turn produces a constant pressure on the side of the piston opposite the load. The piston progressively shuts off these orifices as the piston and rod move inward. Therefore, the total area decreases continually while the load decelerates uniformly. At the end of the stroke, the load comes to a rest and the pressure drops to zero. This results in a uniform deceleration and gentle stopping with no bounce back.

Furthermore bringing a moving load to a stop, the hydraulic shock absorbers valve convert work and kinetic energy ( is that energy stored in a body by virtue of its motion) into heat, which is dissipate to the surroundings.

Shock absorber valve use in deck crane

Therefore I’ll give an example of a shock absorber valve in the ship cranes I worked with. Is fitted in the hydraulic motor valve and is used to control pressure picks in a hydraulic circuit by a discharge a certain amount of high pressure oil to low pressure side.
