A Hydraulic Power Pack is a machine – portable or fixed – that’s supply pressurized fluid in our case oil, to hydraulic equipment. Considering that power units function under high pressure, safety devices are crucial to prevent failures, leaks, and accidents.
Cooling of hydraulic power pack
Cooling system prevents the system from overheating by maintaining the hydraulic fluid at an optimal temperature. Overheating can cause fluid degradation, component wear, and system failure. If the temperature is too low the flow resistance is increase. So, the fluid becomes ticker and sluggish and has a negative effect on mechanical output and the pump experienced suction difficulties. If the temperature is too high leaks in the hydraulic system occur that mean losses and wear are greater.
Therefore the working temperature is one of the key factors that give the efficiency of hydraulic system

Below is describe the oil cooling through a sketch cut from a power unit hydraulic diagram.

Consist of a gerator pump unit, oil reservoir, air oil cooler, air breather filter and a pressure filter with clog indication. The pump unit is use for cooling, filtration and to transport and circulate oil to and from external reservoir. Circulation lines from and to an external tank is point it on the sketch.
✅ How It Works:
- Normal operation is from return line the oil flows through the oil cooler passing filter and goes to tank.
- Only cooling operation, the pump unit draw oil form the tank passing through the oil cooler and back to tank, keeping in mind that the valves in line is open and the ones for circulation purpose closed.
- Transport and circulation operation from external tank or hydraulic equipment. Cooled and filtered oil is fed from the tank to the system, circulating the oil through the cooler and filter from the system. The valves arrangement open/close accordingly set – valve in line close and the ones for circulation purpose open.
